Snaphot of Rove Carrying Brochure of ISP that Hosts White House's Illegal E-Mail Account

Corrente posted this interesting photo of Karl Rove walking into a dinner, carrying a "Coptix" brochure.  Who is Coptix, why would Rove be interested in it, and why is this photo so interesting?

Coptix is the ISP nameserver for the e-mail domain (GWB43.com), owned by the Republican National Committee, that Karl Rove and White House have been illegally using to hide White House e-mails relating to the firing of US Attorneys, from the scrutiny of the White House e-mail tracking system. 

This photo will make a nice prop for Henry Waxman and others when Karl and others have to testify before Congress on this issue.  It will be a little bit harder for Karl to claim "I don't remember, never heard of them, etc."

Update 1: There seems to be some controversy as to whether the photo above has been photoshopped or not.  This post at Coptix is calls this a "manufactured scandal", and introduces what it claims is an unretouched photo to indicate how it might have been photoshopped.  Which is real?  I have no clue.

But the important point here for Coptix to understand is the issue isn't whether the picture has or hasn't been photoshopped.  The underlying issue is very real, as noted by this letter to the Chairman of the RNC asking for the RNC to hand over Karl Rove's and other's e mails.  This isn't a "manufactured scandal".  It appears to be only a matter of time until a DOJ Grand Jury starts to work on the GSA's involvement in what appears to be massive violation of the Hatch Act.  (Karl Rove's office solicited the GSA to use its $60 budget to target 2008 races for the Republicans in case you haven't been paying attention.)

Update 2: I've been receiving pretty heavy traffic from the Coptix Web Site web site.  Coptix apparently thinks this is just a big joke.  But while right-wingers joke about having "punked" liberal bloggers, the reality is that the Office of Special Counsel has just announced that they have targeted GSA Chief Lurita Doan for violation of the Hatch Act, and the Chairman of the RNC has been directed to provide copies of Karl Rove's E-mails stored on RNC servers.

The Head of the GSA is almost assuredly going to fall for corruption, and Karl Rove's E-Mails may not longer be protected.  This spells big trouble for the White House.  So if you think the joke is on liberal bloggers, maybe the joke is on you!
