White House DOJ Data Dump Loaded with "Filler" docs
The House Judiciary Committee today posted more documents related to the DOJ case here. It looked to me like many of these documents were what I would call "fillers", giving the appearance that a substantial document release had been made. Many of the documents are copies of testimony to Congress, which I would classify as fillers, as this data is already in the congressional record. In my very quick scan, I didn't actually come across messages with Karl Rove's name on them, most of them seem to be between Karl Rove's and Alberto Gonzales's subordinates, several of which have already quit, or are contemplating quitting.
I did however come across (click below to enlarge) this communication from the now fired California US attorney Carol Lam, where she complains to Attorney General Alberto Gonzales about Republican Congressman Darryl Issa's (R CA-49) appearances on national TV.
According to Lam (paraphrased), Republican Congressman Issa presented a modified, falsified, incorrect, non-factual, out of date, unapproved report, which was presented out of context, as an Officially released document, to back up Congressman Issa's position on the current official status of US Border issues.
As a minimum, it looks like this issue should be referred to the House Ethics committee, as a US Congressman knowingly presenting falsified government data to the press would appear to be an ethical lapse, if not illegal.
